Shorelark News – August 2016

Hello Shorelark friends! We have some exciting things to share with you in the first of our regular website updates!

We’ve had our Longwayes for Six EP remastered by our great friend Ciaran Corr – you can now download the remastered tracks on Bandcamp, and for the first time the EP is available to buy online ON CD! We’ve even had it repackaged in beautiful card wallets featuring Georgia’s artwork on the disc. Available for just £5 (+P&P), also from our Bandcamp page.

We don’t have loads of gigs this summer as we are also working on other projects… but there are two gigs this month we thought you’d like to know about!

  • 13th August – COLCHESTER – Slack Folk (afternoon show)
  • 20th August – LITTLE GLEMHAM, SUFFOLK – FolkEast Festival

Then in September we have shows in WATFORD and LOOE – check out the rest of our forthcoming shows on the gigs page of our website:

tbp_15009637We’ve both been taking part in a collaboration between Aldeburgh Young Musicians and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners The Young’Uns, reimagining Bob Hart’s seminal Topic release ‘Songs of Suffolk’. The project culminates in an exclusive performance at FolkEast on 19th August, only a few miles from where the original album was recorded in 1972.

Here’s the EADT article about the show and if you want a sneak preview of what it sounds like, check out this YouTube video for ‘The Scarlet & The Blue’, featuring a recorder solo from Finn.

NAC1If you want to have Shorelark play for you in 2017, or you know of somewhere we should play – please let us know! We don’t play many shows a year due to A-levels and other commitments but we want to make the absolute best of the shows we do play together. We have a few ideas for places we’d like to visit next year but it’s always great to hear your ideas!

Thanks as always for your support for Shorelark. Hope to see you at a gig soon!
